The Perth and District Collegiate Institute (PDCI) girls’ team and Carleton Place High School boys’ team won gold recently at the 2018 Upper Canada Cup Intermediate Basketball Championships, hosted by PDCI.
The PDCI Blue Devils defeated the North Grenville District High School (NGDHS) Knights 25-18 to win the girls’ championship on Wednesday.
PDCI Coach Sean Christy was thrilled with his team’s performance, as all 11 of the PDCI girls contributed throughout the tournament and the team used strong defense to win the title.
Carleton Place High School beat Thousand Islands Secondary School 33-28 on Thursday to earn the boys’ title.
The Upper Canada Cup athletic championships were instituted to give students from the Upper Canada District School Board additional opportunities to participate in athletic competition.
