FlyGTA and the District Municipality of Muskoka (District) and are pleased to announce plans for scheduled air taxi service to and from the Muskoka Airport (YQA) starting later next month. The service will cater to tourists, cottagers and commuters from the Greater Toronto Area (GTA). The service is a one-year pilot program.

Proposed Flight Information:

  • Scheduled flights would run from June until mid-October 2018
  • 36 minute flight to Billy Bishop Airport
  • Approximately $140/passenger for a one-way ticket
  • Up to eight passengers at a time

The District and the Airport Board are working closely with FlyGTA, Area Municipalities and Muskoka Tourism Marketing Agency (MTMA) to plan flight schedules and develop strategies to market the pilot program.

“FlyGTA is excited to share its interest in the Muskoka Airport.   We still have some negotiations and approvals to go through, but we are past the first step. FlyGTA is a turn-key option for scheduled air service into Muskoka, and service is possible in as little as two to three weeks if all parties agree. The beauty of the air taxi option is that there is no wait time to get on the plane!” Chris Nowrouzi, CEO, FlyGTA.

“The Board feels this this is a great opportunity for commuters and travelers looking for more options and convenience for visiting or commuting to Muskoka,” said Bud Purves, Chair of the Muskoka Airport Board.  “The Board looks forward to more opportunities like this developing as we undergo a strategic planning process this summer.”

“The Muskoka Airport is an important District asset that is very valuable to the community.  Scheduled air taxi service is a tremendous opportunity to leverage the important investments that District Council has made in the airport in recent years,” remarked District Chair John Klinck.
