JUNE IS STROKE MONTH
A stroke is a sudden and unexpected event that can turn the lives of both stroke survivors and their
caregiver’s upside-down. It can be very difficult for stroke survivors and their caregivers to adjust to the
physical, emotional and cognitive changes that may occur after this life changing event.
CPHC is here to help with the stroke recovery journey. Stroke Survivor and Caregiver Support Groups are
offered in Brockville and Perth. The Stroke Survivor and Caregiver Support group meetings provide an
opportunity to be around people who are going through a similar experience. It is a chance to learn from
each other and share strategies for success. Guest speakers provide information on how to maintain health
and well- being post stroke. Social support is a key component of stroke recovery for both the stroke
survivor and the caregiver. There is no cost for these groups.
Stroke Prevention Awareness will be the focus of a free educational session in Brockville being held by
CPHC (2235 Parkedale Avenue) on Tuesday June 19th, 2018 from 10 am to 12 pm or 1 pm to 3 pm.
