In 2019, Hugh Fraser published Swing Beam Barns of Niagara: Stories of 50 Barns Built in Ontario Circa 1819-1884. These barns were built for wheat, the big crop of early pioneers. Each book chapter commences with an imagined conversation about a real local history event that happened when the barns were built.
