The third annual Holy Cross Photography and Art Auction for Pathstone Mental health will be held on Wednesday, May 2.  This licensed, community event live auctions student created work to benefit Pathstone Mental Health.  Tickets are $10 and can be purchased at the door or by calling the school at:  905-937-6446.

The Kawartha Stamp Club invites the public to their 62nd annual stamp show and exhibition on Saturday, April 21st from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Evinrude Centre, 911 Monaghan Rd., Peterborough.  This is the only regional stamp for the Peterborough area.  There is lots of free parking, and is a free entry event, with a free gift for every child who attends.  There will be up to twelve stamp dealers from around Ontario, Canada Post, raffles, draw prizes, table auctions, club books, stamp exhibits, a canteen and a special limited edition “Show Cover” (envelope) to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the end of WW I and the death of John McCrae.   Everyone is welcome to this free annual all age’s event.

Third Age Nipissing, a volunteer organization dedicated to providing intellectually stimulating lectures for mature learners living in North Bay and neighbouring communities, is presenting The Love of Music lecture series on May 9, 16 and 23. The lectures will take place at the Holiday Inn Express, 1325 Seymour St, North Bay, from 1:30p.m. to 3:30p.m.  Refreshments will be served.  Tickets are $15 per single lecture or $30 for a three lecture package.  Tickets are available at Gulliver’s Quality Books and Toys, 157 Main St. W. and Long & McQuade, 245 Lakeshore Drive. In Lecture 3, We’ve Got Rhythm! on May 23, join music educator Carole Jodouin to explore the difference between beat and rhythm and how rhythm is created and represented in music. Some members of the North Bay Ukulele Club will be on hand to add their own special style of rhythm to the presentation.

Lecture 1, The Enjoyment of Listening, on May 9 will cover the essentials of how to listen to music with a knowledgeable ear. Two accomplished musicians Calvin Cheng (violin) and Geoff Sinclair (french horn) will share their personal perspectives through discussion and demonstration.
