Community Event - Burlington/Oakville - BG's Electronics Drop Off Recycling Event

On Saturday, May 24th, BurlingtonGreen will be teaming up with the Burlington CentreTech Genius Burlington, the Burlington Repair Cafe and Minty Gold & Silver Exchange to help you eliminate clutter from your homes, offices, schools and community centres for recycling, repurposing and repairing!

  • Electronic waste and other waste items can be dropped off in the Burlington Centre parking lot near the intersection of Guelph Line and Fairview Street. See below for accepted items.
  • Burlington Repair Cafe volunteers will also be on hand (10am to 2pm), to help fix small broken or damaged household appliances and other items to help extend their useful life. Advance registration is required for the Burlington Repair Cafe service via email to burlingtonrepaircafe@cogeco.ca.
  • Minty Gold & Silver will be on hand inside the mall to assess and purchase your unwanted gold and silver for recycling, with the opportunity for you to donate a portion of your proceeds to support BurlingtonGreen’s community programming.
  • You can also drop off clean, freshly laundered clothing or accessories (hats, shoes, scarves, etc.) which will be used for BurlingtonGreen and Reconnect Burlington’s Clothing Swap on May 31st (any left-over items from the swap will be donated to the Compassion Society)

Gather your broken, unwanted electronics and other items to be recycled and come on by.

Community groups and businesses are encouraged to do their own mini collections and bring items to the event. If you are organizing a mini collection please contact Sue so we can prepare for your contribution.

Accepted Electronics/Appliances:

  • Consumer Electronics (gaming consoles, iPods etc.)
  • Computers (PC & Mac, monitors. parts, motherboards)
  • Handheld devices (smartphones, cell phones, tablets etc.)
  • Phone systems, racks & miscellaneous (server racks, lab equipment, disc arrays etc.)
  • Printers (Inkjet & Laserjet, plotters, copiers, scanners, fax machines etc.)
  • Peripherals (keyboards, mice, CD/DVD roms, cards, speakers, accessories, etc.)
  • Servers (rackmount, stand-alone, all brands etc.)
  • Software (operating system, editing, design etc.)
  • Specialty Items (Cisco networking, switches, routers etc.)
  • Personal appliances ex: electric toothbrushes or razors
  • TVs (not heavyweight)
  • Microwaves
  • Coffee makers or other small home appliances

Other accepted waste:

  • Candy wrappers and snack bags
  • Brita-style water filters and small size air purifier filters
  • Disposable PPE (face masks)
  • Expired gift cards and other unwanted plastic cards
  • Batteries of all kinds
  • Ink/Toner cartridges

Carolyn's homemade pickles and jams will  be available !! 

Your kindness supports spay/neuter programs, costs emergency vet bills, food, and the costs associated with fostering. We work with several local rescue groups providing much needed funding.  Thank you in advance for support and generosity !!!

Join us for the IG Wealth Management Walk for Alzheimer’s in Belleville on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 at Jane Forrester Park (Meyer’s Pier) walking the Bayshore Trail. Registration begins at 9:30 am and the Walk is from 10 am – 12 pm. ALL funds raised stay local! No cost to attend or participate. Everyone welcome to attend this free public community event. Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Step into the Light: PSO Season Finale Concert

Step into the Light on May 24th when the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra performs its final concert of the season.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church. Arrive at 6:45 p.m. to hear Maestro Newnham give his pre-concert talk.

Two guest artists playing the harp and cello will join the orchestra to showcase a piece by Canadian composer Kelly-Marie Murphy and a soprano will accompany the orchestra in performing Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.
