Do you know someone who has passed from overdose? Does someone you know use substances?
International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on 31 August each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. In Windsor we will be holding it on Friday, August 30, 2019. It also acknowledges the grief felt by families and friends remembering those who have died or had a permanent injury as a result of drug overdose.
International Overdose Awareness Day spreads the message that the tragedy of overdose death is preventable.
Thousands of people die each year from drug overdose. They come from all walks of life.
Do you recognize the signs and symptoms of overdose? What is the impact of drug misuse and overdose on family, friends and those experiencing it?
Join us on Friday, August 30, 2019, at Average Joe's, 1286 Lauzon Road. Doors open at 5:00PM, opening starts at 5:30PM with dinner served at 6:00PM. Dinner includes pasta, salad, a roll, and coffee/tea.
We will be hearing from a number of speakers who have lost their most cherished loved ones.
These people were so much more than an overdose statistic!
COME OUT TO HEAR THEIR STORIES!
