“Cite Your Sources & Evaluating the Records” – On Tuesday, September 3rd, the Nipissing District Branch of Ontario Ancestors, the Ontario Genealogical Society, will be hosting a talk on the importance of documenting your source and determining the reliability of your record. It will provide tips to assist you in preparing a well-researched and documented family history. The presentation will be given by Irving Sloss in Nipissing Branch’s genealogical library on the upstairs mezzanine, North Bay Public Library, 271 Worthington Street East, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. For more information, please call (705)474-4830, extension 2833. Lincoln County Humane Society annual walkathon with vendors, prizes, food and raffles to raise money for the animals
On Saturday, August 17th, Without Borders presents the interactive and world-music group KLEZTORY, as well as unique and delicate performances by Aboriginal composer and performer, Barbara Croall, both accompanied by the much appreciated Classiqu'Arts String Orchestra. Cymbalist Alexandru Sura is back by popular demand. He and his quartet will render rousing performances during our one hour preconcert. This event is a tremendous value, since you will in fact be attending two concerts for the price of one. Preconcert 6:30pm to 7:30pm, concert 8:00pm.
Step back into the 19th Century and become a pioneer in this fun program. Children will cook on the fire, make a pioneer craft, write with quill pens and play pioneer games. Programs run from 9:30am - 12pm or 1-3:30pm and are suitable for children ages 6-12. The cost is $20 per attendant and pre-registration is required. In honour of the release of Downton Abbey the movie, Hutchison House volunteers invite you to a Downton Abbey inspired luncheon that might have been served to the staff of Downton Abbey.

The Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village is holding it's 5th Farm Safety Day Wednesday, August 28th from 10am-2pm for local children of Chatham-Kent for just $5/child.

Each year the Chatham-Kent Children's Safety Village provides Farm Safety Program to local grade 6 students of Chatham-Kent (during the school) year in partnership with South West Ag Partners teaching about dangers on the farm with emphasis on ATV safety, chemical & grain safety, lawn mower & tractor safety and safe play areas.
As we continue to promote farm safety to all local children, we have added a Summer Learning Farm Safety Day Wed Aug 28 for all children to learn about kids safety on farms.
We are reaching out to all local agricultural businesses, educational resources &farm related contacts offering free exhibit space to help educate and train local children who live on, visit or work on farms. This year's exhibits include PTO demonstration, ATV mock rescue, grain bin "tug-of-war", O.P.P. rollover simulator and so much more!
Sponsorship's are available for $250 with 10 hats, volunteer positions & exhibit space for all who want them!
There is a hat, hot dog lunch, water & apple provided for each attending. Last year we had over 80 local kids ages 4-12 who attended, and we hope to continue to grow. If you would like to be part of this day, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Weaving the Rainbow at Wallaceburg Branch, Chatham-Kent Public Library. Thursday, August 1 at 2:30 pm. Using cardboard, sticks, yarn and beads you will create your very own wall hanging to proudly display. Ages 6 and up. Registration required.
