Annual “Pat on the Back Awards” Provide Funding Opportunity for Local Environmental Projects
The Windsor Essex County Environment Committee is excited to announce the return of the “Pat on the Back Awards.”
Four $500 awards will be given out to small, local organizations that foster sustainability in our community. Examples of projects we are looking for include school greening; environmental education or advocacy; community gardens; re-use, recycling or composting; native plant gardens; community cleanups; or environmental art.
The deadline to apply is 4pm on Friday, May 24, 2019. The awards will be presented on Wednesday, June 5, 2019 from 7-9pm at the Ojibway Nature Centre.

On Saturday June 1st and Sunday June 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., the Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial will be hosting the Third Annual Electronics Recycling, Clothing Drive and Shredding Event at the Zehrs parking lot in LaSalle (5890 Malden Road). Document shredding is offered on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. only.

The Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial is organizing this event in partnership with the Ontario Electronic Stewardship (OES), a non-profit, industry funded organization with a proven track record of diverting waste from landfill sites. Their program helps protect human health, our water ways and ecosystems, while creating a cleaner environment.
Electronic items that will be accepted include: televisions, monitors, portable computers, computer peripherals, printers, copiers, cell phones, pagers, telephone answering machines, audio/visual equipment, speakers, cables and more.
Used clothing should be in plastic bags.
DOCUMENT SHREDDING – ONE DAY ONLY - SATURDAY JUNE 1st
Document shredding will be done offsite by First Stop Services following collection. The cost is $10/banker’s box, $2 of which will be donated back to the Rotary Club of LaSalle Centennial. Documents should be free of plastic, hanging file folders, elastics, clips etc. Paper clips and staples are acceptable.
All Windsor-Essex residents and businesses are encouraged to participate and help keep our community and the earth healthy and vibrant for future generations.
