On Tuesday, November 5th at 10am the Rotary Clubs of Cornwall Sunrise and Cornwall are pleased to extend an open invitation to all to mark the commissioning of the final phase of the Rotary Outdoor Gym in Lamoureux Park. We especially welcome and thank everyone who has purchased an engraved stone as well as the suppliers, Prestige Brick & Stone, Kingston Monuments and Joel Lebreque of Cornwall Landscaping.

This has been a major undertaking that was designed to serve several purposes. Community enhancement is always uppermost for community leaders and so, the objective was to provide a first class facility that the community could be proud of. As well as providing workout equipment, it was important to have a suitable open area for fitness groups to use. This became a place where businesses and community members could sponsor an engraved recognition stone that would help make this a truly community project.

The pandemic slowed the completion of the second phase, however, this same health crisis was responsible for seeing a surge in the use of all aspects of the facility. We’re pleased to note that this increased usage has continued to grow.

The vision of an outdoor workout facility originated more than ten years ago. Sebastian Warner had seen such a facility in another community and we recognized its merit as a potential enhancement for fitness opportunities in Cornwall. The plan to make fitness equipment free for all to use was adopted by the City and both Rotary clubs. In September 2016, the first phase was completed and the Rotary clubs officially handed it over to the City.
