All are welcome to attend this special Fall Speaker Series.

Bring a friend, and come out to listen to one, or all, of the special guests as they speak on these very interesting topics.

The series will run on four Thursday evenings, beginning on Thursday, October 17th

The presentations will begin at 7:00 pm in Trinity United Church, 33 Main St. E, Huntsville.

Come at 6:30 for dessert prior to the event!

October 17th: Sheridan Rondeau, author of the book, Dear Tony – a memoir about Alzheimer’s disease and the challenges for the person with it and their family members. All done with a touch of humour!

October 24th: Lori Knowles, a local Muskoka author, will share her summer sell out novel called Summers with Miss Elizabeth.  Knowles explores the intricacies of family generational dynamics while skillfully weaving in the destructive family skeletons that jump out of the ‘old money’ Muskoka cottage.

November 7th: Social worker, Bernadine Togertz, will be discussing the topic of estranged adult children.  Why do they cut off ties and communication with their parents? And more importantly, how can we move conflict to connection again? What can be done to help repair these broken relationships?

November 14th: Dr. Pam McDermott:  Do you have a plan for your future health and personal care?  Join Pam McDermott as she shows us how we can take control of our health care journey through advance care planning.

The Peterborough Symphony Orchestra (PSO) is excited to kick off their 2024-2025 season with a concert entitled "Romantic Flames" showcasing two of the most iconic romantic pieces, Dvorak’s Symphony no. 8 and Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto.

Dvorak’s Symphony no. 8 is one of his most beloved works that is steeped in Czech folk rhythms and yearning melodies. Rachmaninov’s Third Piano Concerto, made famous through the movie “Shine,” is a show-stopper. We are thrilled that David Jalbert, one of Canada’s foremost piano virtuosos will bring the spark to this orchestral firework!

The concert will open with contemporary composer, Andrew Balfour’s “Pyotr’s Dream” which is influenced by the music of Tchaikovsky. Andrew is of Cree descent and based in Winnipeg. His work has been commissioned by several orchestras across Canada and we look forward to showcasing his music in Peterborough.

Arrive early (6:45 p.m.) and you will be treated to the “Meet the Maestro” informative and entertaining pre-concert talk that will give you a preview of the music you will hear.  To learn more about David or to get a sneak peek of this concert’s featured music, visit https://thepso.org/romantic-flames.

New this year is a flexible subscription package. There are 3 (“Your Choice”), 4 (“Flexible”) and 5 (“All In”) concert packages. Season subscriptions are now available with prices ranging from $95 - $245 depending on seating. Student subscriptions are only $10 per concert. Regular single ticket prices range from $33 - $55 and are available through our website.

Welcome one and all to a season of amazing music!
