Media Release

Muskoka, ON – August 21, 2024 – Music lovers and fans of rock history are in for a treat as Rik Emmett, the legendary lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist of Triumph, takes the stage for a special evening of storytelling and music. As part of the highly anticipated Artist Life Stories Speaker Series, Emmett will be featured on Thursday, September 19, 2024, at 7:30 pm at the Muskoka Discovery Centre.

Titled “Rik Emmett: Lay It On The Line - A Backstage Pass to Rock Star Adventure, Conflict, and Triumph,” this unique event promises to deliver an engaging mix of conversation, live music, and audience interaction. Each Artist Life Stories event is crafted like a perfectly mixed cocktail—two parts conversation, one-part live music, one-part Q&A, and a splash of the unexpected.

During the evening, attendees will experience two 40-minute interview sets where Emmett will delve into his illustrious career, from his beginnings with Triumph in 1975 to his continued influence in the music industry today. Known for his contributions to rock music that have earned him accolades including five Halls of Fame, two Walks of Fame, and several ‘Best Guitarist’ awards, Emmett’s career is a testament to musical excellence and innovation.

Rik Emmett’s remarkable journey is also captured in his latest memoir, Lay It On The Line: A Backstage Pass to Rock Star Adventure, Conflict, and Triumph. The book, which follows his previous collection of poetry Reinvention, offers an intimate look at his life both on and off the stage.  Books are on sale now at the MDC Gift Shop.

Though retired from touring, Emmett remains active, continuing to write and record new music, with updates available on his official website www.rikemmett.com.

The evening will conclude with a post-show meet and greet, allowing fans to interact with Emmett, get their books signed, and gain deeper insights into the stories behind his music and life.

Don’t miss this extraordinary opportunity to connect with a rock legend and hear firsthand about the adventures, conflicts, and triumphs that have defined his incredible career.
