An Evening of Stories & Songs in Muskoka

Featuring Jill & Matthew Barber, Hannah Georgas, Clerel and Miranda Mulholland

Inspired by the late, great Stuart McLean and "The Vinyl Cafe", join raconteur-extraordinaire Grant Lawrence for an evening to remember in Gravenhurst, as he brings his hit "Stories and Songs" touring show to the historic Opera House for the first time. The acclaimed bestselling author ("Adventures in Solitude", "Return to Solitude", "The Lonely End of the Rink") and longtime national radio host from Vancouver will share his hilarious stories from his West Coast upbringing in Desolation Sound BC, often described as "The Beachcombers meets The Shining", as well as his many years as a gimpy goalie in the beer leagues.

Joining Grant to provide songs between the stories will be a cast of all-star Canadian musicians, including the award-winning chanteuse Jill & Matthew Barber, Clerel, Hannah Georgas and Gravenhurst's own JUNO nominated sensation Miranda Mulholland. VIP tickets include exclusive picnic lunch with private performances and an unannounced special guest, signed goodies and more. Classic Lightfoot Live stands as Canada’s premier tribute to the legendary folk rocker, Gordon Lightfoot. Led by the remarkable ensemble of vocalist and guitarist John Stinson, music director and multi-instrumentalist Bob Doidge (Gord’s record producer), bassist Steve Eyers (Gord’s nephew),lead guitarist Eric Kidd (Red Shea trained), this show whisks you down a nostalgic journey through Lightfoot’s iconic music.

Gordon Lightfoot’s impact on music is immeasurable; he’s hailed as Canada’s greatest songwriter, shaping the folk-pop sounds of the ‘60s and ‘70s. His name is synonymous with timeless tales of trains, shipwrecks, rivers, highways, love, and solitude. His repertoire, including classics like “For Lovin’ Me,” “Early Morning Rain,” and “Ribbon of Darkness,” have left an indelible mark on the world.

Classic Lightfoot Live was founded in 2012 by lead vocalist, John Stinson, a long time Ontario musician. John has been entertaining audiences around Ontario for over 30 years. He has been widely praised for his uncanny sonic resemblance to Gord, and his attention to replicating Gord’s original studio recordings. John was mentored to play Gordon Lightfoot music by the legendary Lightfoot lead guitarist, Red Shea.

Others can tell, even if they don’t know how or why John’s renditions come off as being so faithful. I’ve been told before, and many did that night, they can’t believe how well John sings Gord’s tunes.” – John Swartz, SunOnlineMedia.ca, Nov 2023

Amazing talent, unbelievably realistic. Gave me goosebumps listening to them.” – Social media post.
