Public Notices/Announcements - Chatham - Do you flush "flushable" wipes?

Do you flush "flushable" wipes?

"Flushable" wipes cause major plumbing problems.

In the past six days, three separate incidents have been attributed to these simple little wipes.

One of those incidents happened in a brand new neighbourhood and backed up sewage in four houses, costing a significant amount in repair fees.

Wipes are by far the biggest issue for Chatham-Kent Public Works and the Chatham-Kent Public Utilities Commission.

Please DO NOT flush ANY KIND of wipes, even if they're labelled "flushable."

Please DO NOT pour grease down your sink or toilet. Grease solidifies and clogs drains.

Feminine Hygiene products may be labelled “flushable,” but they DO NOT belong in the pipes.
