It’s been a while, but the annual Bookfest is back and more flexible than ever! During these uncertain times, we want everyone to know that Literary Arts Windsor holds safety as our highest priority. That’s why Bookfest will be held virtually this year, which makes the event even more accessible for authors and literature fans alike. With so many people isolating, working from home, and staying in doors, entertainment is high in demand. We could not let our arts community down, so we are offering an abundance of literary experiences for FREE (donations welcome) beginning October 15th at 8am and ending October 18th at 5pm. This event will be hosted online via Zoom. Each Segment will be in one-hour sections, which you can register for the segments of your choice by registering on bookfestwindsor.com.

Featured authors include artists like Carol Rose GoldenEagle, who is a Cree and Dene award-winning published novelist, poet, playwright, visual artist, and musician with roots in Sandy Bay, northern Saskatchewan. Desmond Cole, an award-winning journalist, radio host, and activist in Toronto. His writing has appeared in the Toronto Star, Toronto Life, The Walrus, NOW Magazine, Ethnic Aisle, Torontoist, BuzzFeed, and the Ottawa Citizen. Evelyn Lau, the 2014 Poet Laureate for the City of Vancouver. She is the author of thirteen books, including eight volumes of poetry. She has won multiple awards and recognitions, with her most famous novel made into a CBC movie. And many authors that hail from and/ or currently reside in Windsor-Essex, like Kristyn Dunnion, Dorothy Mahoney, Laurie Smith, Madeline Sonik, and Windsor’s first ever Youth Poet Laureate Samantha Badaoa, to name a few.

Although there is unlimited capacity online, we still encourage you to register for your favourite authors NOW! Go to bookfestwindsor.com and click on Register 2020 along the top ribbon.
