Hospice LifeWalk - Choose Your Challenge Edition

This year, participants can choose their own activity or challenge to complete. It can be a traditional 5km walk, a weekly bike ride, 10 jumping jacks a day or whatever else they can think of! Also new this year we are extending the event from June 1 – 30.  This way, participants can complete the challenge on their own time, wherever they feel most comfortable.

How To Take Part in LifeWalk Month

1. Register Online – Join one of our Hospice Teams! Or you can start your own team - family members/friends make great teammates, even from afar!

2. Choose Your Honouree - Who are you doing this in honour of? Select a special loved one to honour and remember. Email their photo to soverton@thehospice.ca to be included in a special memorial video.

3. Choose Your Challenge - Let's get active! Maybe you want to commit to going for a walk once a week, or do 10 push-ups every day. Choose the challenge that makes sense for you - no challenge is too big or too small.

4. Share Your Goal - Share your fundraising page, tell your friends and family, and ask for their support!

5. Support Our Hospice, Together - All donations will directly support our Hospice and our frontline staff, and will directly help us keep caring for our community, especially during these unique times.

Community Event - Windsor/Leamington - Online event to raise awareness of rare dementias

This event aims to raise awareness of rare forms of dementia (e.g. frontotemporal dementia, posterior cortical atrophy, primary progressive aphasia) which occur in about a quarter of people living with dementia. These forms of dementia are normally young in onset (under 65 years old). A rare dementia diagnosis brings with it a set of unique and complex challenges, yet there is a widespread lack of understanding and a shortage of dedicated resources to support people affected by these conditions. This event also contributes to conversations around building on our current strengths to innovate various forms of support for people living with dementia and their families. This event is offered free and will be of interest to people living with dementia, family care partners, health and social care practitioners, students and researchers.
