FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE MONDAY, MARCH 16, 2020

NORTH BAY  -   The current situation regarding COVID - 19 has required everyone to adjust their everyday lives. The health and safety of our patrons and staff, at this time, is our single most important focus.

For that reason, and after considerable consideration, the board of the North Bay Public Library has decided to close, at least for the immediate future.  This follows the recommendation of Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health.

The province is also advising against gatherings of 50 people or more at this time.

“The decision to close was not taken lightly,” said Ravil Veli, Library CEO. “We came to this decision after considering the best public health advice available.”

Libraries, and other public institutions across the province, have been affected by closures and the North Bay Public Library joins a long list of libraries taking this step.

Veli said, “We will be examining options regarding service delivery, and have reached out to our counterparts across the province to see what others are doing.”

The North Bay Public Library website and social media properties will continue to provide information, regarding library status.

“The situation is evolving, sometimes on an hourly basis, so we are doing our best to keep our patrons and staff healthy and safe,” said Veli.
