CUPE and a several other trade unions are planning a massive demonstration at the 2020 Ontario PC Party Policy Conference on Saturday 22 February, 2020, the day after the conference starts, at the Scotiabank Convention Centre – 6815 Stanley Ave. Niagara Falls.

Kyle Hoskins of CUPE is encouraging groups that are part of our climate action and social justice movement (Green New Deal; For our Kids; Violet and Friends; OPIRG and connections; Eco-Defenders; Extinction Rebellion Niagara, the Peoples Platform, Niagara Anti-Fascist Action, Save Thundering Waters, Abrupt Climate Change, Niagara District Council of Women, Niagara Activist Network, Niagara Taxpayers seeking Justice, Niagara Social Justice Coalition, Fridays for Future Niagara, Students for a Democratic Society Niagara, and others) to become fully involved.

This would be a wonderful occasion for all of us to turn out with our banners and poster signs and noise. Rally time is 10:30, however if demonstrators are able to get there as early at 7 am, before 8 am breakfast time for the PC delegate, that would be fantastic. Kyle has two buses booked, and is trying to arrange for two more. As soon as I know when and where to get them, I will let you know. Hop on board!

According to scientific research, if a movement engages 3.5% of a community, it becomes successful. That would mean app. 15,000 in Niagara. Let’s try to exceed that goal. It’s time for our voices not only to be heard, but to make a difference!
