Tis the season for the annual Hutchison House Christmas Market! The sale will take place on Saturday, 23 November from 9:30am-12:30pm. Home baking, shortbread, fruit pies, jams, jellies and preserves will be featured, along with other special seasonal treats. Books, new to you items, fresh greenery and other gift items will also be available for sale. Award wining Empire Cheese can be ordered a head of time through museum. On offer is a variety of delicious specialty cheeses and gift baskets. Deadline for Cheese Orders are November 15th and will be available for pick up at the sale. Baked goods and new to you donations for the sale can be dropped off at the museum between Nov. 19 to Nov. 22. For more information, please call the museum office at 743-9710. Les enfants et les adolescent(e)s sont à la fois fascinés et intrigués par l’univers de la sexualité et présentement, ils ont facilement accès à beaucoup d’informations parfois inappropriées pour leur âge et leur niveau de développement. En effet, il y a des messages à caractère sexuel véhiculés par certains médias (ex. : téléréalités ; publicités ; vidéoclips; etc.) ou par l’intermédiaire des technologies (ex. : jeux vidéos en ligne ; sextos ; cyberpornographie ; etc.) qui diffusent une image réductrice, stéréotypée, parfois trompeuse voire préoccupante de la sexualité. Quel impact cela peut-il avoir sur la perception que les enfants et les jeunes se font de l’expression de la sexualité ainsi que sur leur propre vécu (ex. : insatisfaction corporelle ; perception stéréotypée des codes de séduction ; pression voire obligation d’avoir un « chum» ou une « blonde» ; confusion entre la sphère publique et privée ; sexualisation précoce ; exposition de son intimité ; anxiété de performance ; etc.). Devant ce bombardement de messages sexuels, il importe d’aider les enfants et les jeunes à en décoder le sens. Car au-delà de l’artifice et du sensationnalisme, la sexualité est au coeur de l’identité sexuelle, de la relation à l’autre, de l’épanouissement et du bien-être d’une personne. La question du sens, des repères et des limites est essentielle en matière d’éducation à la sexualité. Et c’est à nous, adultes (parents, intervenant(e)s), de les accompagner dans cette incontournable réflexion sur la « connaissance de soi et sur le rapport aux autres ».

A fund-raiser for Gleaners Food Bank.  For Remembrance Day, They Shall Not Grow Old is a 2018 documentary film directed and produced by Peter Jackson, using original footage of World War I from the Imperial War Museum's archives, most of it previously unseen, all over 100 years old, with interview clips from 120 veterans. No admission charge; please bring a non-perishable food item or cash donation to Gleaners.

There will be a Musical Adventure Friday, November 8 at 7 p.m. at St. John's Anglican Church, 301 Main St. E

Tickets are $10/each

There will be everything from classical and contemporary to country and folk.

Hannah Shira Naiman, an Appalachian fiddler and banjo player and 2017 Canadian Folk Music Award winner as Traditional Singer of the Year and Dave Merleau, radio host and producer, and guitarist, play old-time traditional music.

Heartbeat Quartet, with their four-part a capella harmony, are John Holland, tenor, Gerry Foster, lead, Barry Lajeunesse, baritone and Chuck Buttigieg, bass.

Dominique Etheir, soprano soloist and Sharon Paris, accompanist will perform Andrew Lloyd Webver Broadway show favourits from Jesus Christ Superstar, Les Miserables, Cats and Phantom of the Opera.

Time After Time, a four-piece harmony-centered retro/eclectic band is Cheryl Gould on keyboard, Guy Daigle on bass, Murrya Hale on mandolin and Tom Zink on quitar.

Jason Brock, Chapman Stick Touch-board Artist, will play his ethereal, enchanting music as a prelude to the evening's program.
