The City of Belleville’s Glanmore National Historic Site has lots of fun for families on tap this summer!

Back by popular demand is the Summer Fun at the Museum afternoons where you can bring the family to explore the historic house and join demonstrators for some old fashioned summertime fun. Regular museum admission applies; children must be accompanied by an adult.
The following Summer Fun activities are offered:

Wednesday, August 7 – 2:00 to 4:00 pm – Play old=fashioned outdoor games such as croquet, barrel hoops, graces and stilt-walking!

Wednesday, August 21- 2:00 to 4:00 pm - Make and taste delicious ice cream using our old-fashioned churn!

Families participating in the Summer Fun activities are also encouraged to explore the historic house together. An Artifact Scavenger Hunt worksheet is available at the museum’s front reception desk. The scavenger hunt will challenge children and adults alike to a scavenger hunt to search through room displays for specific artifacts. Once the worksheet is completed and all objects are found, bring it back to the front desk and receive a small reward!

Glanmore National Historic Site, 257 Bridge Street East, is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:00 am until 4:30 pm. For more information call 613-962-2329 or visit www.glanmore.ca.

Saturday, August 31st is International Overdose Awareness Day.

To recognize International Overdose Awareness Day, CK Public Health, in partnership with the Chatham-Kent Drug Awareness Council, have planned events for Thursday, August 29th at Studio One in the Chatham Cultural Centre, 75 William Street North, Chatham.

There will be free, walk-in overdose response training sessions at Studio One from 1:00pm to 2:00pm and 2:00pm to 3:00pm. Permanent injury and death from an overdose is preventable, come out and learn how to recognize the signs and symptoms of an overdose and how to respond. All participants will receive a free naloxone kit as part of their training. No ID, Health Card, or appointment is required. Simply show up!

In the evening, the events will continue with a memorial being held at Studio One at 7:00pm. The memorial will be in memory of those who have lost their lives due to an overdose, in support of the countless families in mourning across Canada and around the world, and in solidarity and strength for those living with and recovering from an addiction.

Light refreshments will be available at both events.

All are welcome.
