Community Event - Cobourg/Port Hope - Petticoat Lane is having a Happy Halloween Sale!
Petticoat Lane is having a Happy Halloween Sale on Wednesday October 31st from 9:30 to 4:30! There will be 50% off mostly “black or orange” items as well as 75% off Halloween items. Petticoat Lane, Cobourg’s feel good thrift shop, is located at 25 Munroe Street in Cobourg, across from No Frills, behind The Beer Store. The shop is managed by the volunteers of the Northumberland Hills Hospital Auxiliary. Proceeds from this event, and all Auxiliary events, go towards the purchase of hospital equipment. Have a safe and Happy Halloween!
Community Event - North Bay - Rapport Singers Concert - Sun, Oct. 28 @ 1:30 pm
The Rapport Singers of North Bay will be presenting an afternoon concert titled, AIR: O2 BE ALIVE! at 1:30 pm on Sunday, October 28, 2018 at Trinity United Church (Ferguson at McIntyre) in North Bay. Adult tickets are $15, student tickets are $10 and admission is free for those 12 years of age and under (all tickets at the door). For this concert the Rapport Singers are delighted to have as their musical guests The Canadian Military Wives Choirs (CMWC) North Bay.
This is the third and final concert in Rapport’s Life – It’s Elementary! series and the theme is centred on Air, one of the four ancient Greek elements that were though to make up the universe. The program is made up of selections that feature the ways that air, wind and flight have been the inspiration for so many memorable contemporary songs.
Community Event - Belleville - The Salvation Army in Belleville needs volunteers
Our Christmas Kettle campaign is our MAIN fundraiser. All money raised goes directly back into OUR community through our food, clothing and emergency food bank programs. Our campaign runs from Nov. 14 to Dec. 22. We have 15 kettles located across the City and we need VOLUNTEERS to help "man" them. ALL kettles are indoors. Public Notices/Announcements - Windsor/Leamington - Call to Artists - Warming Shelter/Art Installation
The City is seeking to commission a local architect, student of architecture, landscape architect, interior designer, artist, industrial designer or multi-disciplinary team to create 1 of 4 warming shelters that will be integrated into Bright Lights Windsor. The commissioned shelter must be installed no later than November 23, 2018. Applicants may apply to construct one or all four of the warming shelters with the deadline remaining firm.
Projects must focus on encouraging a unifying experience of people and represent/reflect our connection to the River and the Land. The final projects must utilize natural resources in construction and take advantage of natural processes in the design to create a heat source and wind barrier for the warming hut.
Eligibility
The competition is open to applicants living in the City of Windsor or within Essex County. Applications may be made by individuals or a group of collaborators (all collaborators must be residents within the region). Multi-disciplinary teams are encouraged to include local architect, student of architecture, landscape architect, interior designer, artist, industrial designer.
