Public Notices/Announcements - Windsor/Leamington - The strength of patriotism shared & remembered

“We have their names on monuments, but there’s more to them — their lives lived. Who are they”, begs the question by local military historian and author, Gene Lotz.

The Anguish of War puts a face to the names of 1300 fallen Veterans (of all stripes) who lived in our neighbourhoods and attended our schools; were employed in offices, shops, factories and worked the family farms in communities throughout Windsor-Essex County.

From the Boer War to the Afghanistan War, each chapter speaks to the inherent values of courage and loyalty, patriotism, camaraderie, and sacrifice of our Veterans who gave up a piece of individuality to be a part of something larger than themselves – who “stood at the ready” to defend the integrity of our Canadian democracy - to safeguard those fundamental civil liberties that are often denied to so many the world over!
