Public Notices/Announcements - Brockville/Prescott - Gardening gets its own day in Brockville
NEWS RELEASE
Gardening gets its own day in Brockville
Brockville, ON, May 28, 2018 -- The Brockville & District Horticultural Society is pleased to announce that the Municipal Council has declared June 16, 2018 as the Official Garden Day for 2018 in the City of Brockville.
The Society is encouraging residents to mark the occasion by planting, enjoying nature or strolling through a public garden. And if you are at the Farmers’ Market that day, stop by our community booth for some gardening ideas.
Garden Day is a country-wide celebration and recognition of the importance of gardens to the environment and our health and well-being. “We are fortunate in Brockville and area to be in a position to embrace nature however, whenever, and by whatever method we choose, on land and water. Garden Days is not only about those who cultivate plants. It is a celebration of all the good that nature brings us, and the good we can do by developing, encouraging, preserving and enjoying our natural world. Enjoy your garden, whatever you conceive it to be!”, said Alison Whitlock, BDHS President.
The Society continues to carry out the aims and objectives of the Ontario Horticultural Association by organizing educational lectures, workshops, garden tours, civic beautification and by holding competitions.
