Volunteer Halton is pleased to welcome Tanya Hannah Rumble, CFRE, on Tuesday September 13 for an encore presentation of the workshop Sharing Power with Volunteers, part of the Leading, Growing, and Creating Inclusive Volunteer Programs workshop series.  This working builds on the concepts of equity, diversity, and inclusion by exploring personal and professional power.  You'll come away understanding the concepts of harnessing, holding, and giving power as well as ways to share power at all stages of the volunteer engagement cycle.

Gairloch Gardens Outdoor Art and Heritage Tour Launch Event

Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens

Experience Oakville Galleries' new outdoor tour during this special sunset launch event! Our guides will lead groups on 30-minute tours that highlight the Galleries’ public art collection and the significant heritage of Gairloch Gardens. Tours will depart the Galleries' main building at 5:15 PM and 6:00 PM. Bilingual pamphlets will be available for self-guided explorations as well.

This program is free of charge and registration is not required.

Please dress appropriately for the weather. If inclement weather occurs, a modified indoor presentation will be available.

Oakville Galleries is thrilled to announce a solo exhibition by Sascha Braunig. Opening 2 October, Lay Figure presents paintings and drawings that are exercises in colour, form, and illusion.

In this exhibition, which stretches over both Oakville Galleries sites, the Canada-born, US-based artist brings together new and recent works that are based on the compositional motif of figures engaged in conflict with a dress-like structure. These works use material qualities to analogize an immaterial idea: the feeling of struggling with a system more powerful than you, in which you are also deeply entangled.

A recent New York City exhibition of Braunig’s work received significant media attention and acclaim. Featuring loans from private collections across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Braunig’s exhibition at Oakville Galleries presents a highly evocative suite of works that demonstrate Braunig’s singular vision and talent.

As part of Culture Days, enjoy a Family Art Workshop with us in lovely Gairloch Gardens! This program will include a brief tour of our surrounding gardens as well as a hands-on art making activity in our Education Centre. A caregiver must accompany their child(ren) for the duration of the program. All materials are provided.

This program is free of charge; pre-registration is required. Limited to seven (7) households with a maximum of four (4) people per household. A single (1) caregiver from the household must register.

Our Family Art Workshops run rain or shine, participants should dress accordingly for the weather and alternative indoor venue spaces will be provided should the weather not cooperate.

Celebrate Culture Days at Oakville Galleries! In this Children's Workshop, your young artist, with their sketchbook in hand, will take a guided tour through Gairloch Gardens and learn how to sketch en plein air! Our artist instructor, Becky D’Onofrio will lead young artists through the Gardens where they will discover contemporary art installations, learn a bit about the significant history of the treaty lands that Oakville Galleries in Gairloch Gardens is located on, and discover the challenges and joys of sketching outdoors.

This program is free of charge for ages 6-12 years old; pre-registration is mandatory for each attendee.

The workshop will run rain or shine, participants should dress accordingly for the weather and alternative indoor venue spaces will be provided should the weather not cooperate.

On Thursday September 22, Volunteer Halton is pleased to welcome Erin Spink, MA, as she kick-starts the Data Literacy For Leaders of Volunteers workshop series with a workshop on "Data Collection:  Overview & Assessment". What do you measure as a benchmark of success in your volunteer program?  In this first workshop, join us to learn more about the pros/cons of different data collection methods and how to identify gaps and opportunities in the data you currently collect.  Part II and Part III of this series will focus on creating a data collection toolkit and how to tell better stories through data.
