Bench Talks is a unique awareness and fundraising event hosted by The Downtown Mission. For 24 continuous hours, our Executive Director, a member of our Board of Directors, and community members remain outside on a park bench — day and night — to spark important conversations about homelessness, poverty, and the Mission’s programs.
During the event, passersby are encouraged to stop, ask questions, and share dialogue. Guided tours of The Downtown Mission’s facilities are also offered, giving the public an inside look at the services and programs that their support makes possible.
Funds raised from Bench Talks directly support The Downtown Mission’s essential programs — including shelter services, meals, mental health supports, youth programs, and pathways to housing stability.
This year, our goal is to raise $50,000. Every dollar helps ensure that Windsor-Essex’s most vulnerable neighbors have a safe place to go and the support they need.
How to Support:
Stop by in person to donate or bring much-needed items (non-perishable food, snacks, hygiene products, clothing, gift cards).
