Budgeting and cooking skills come together for this program that teaches participants how to create wholesome and cost-effective meals for the whole family. An eight-week group program focused on helping you make healthy lifestyle changes and improve your relationship with food and your body. Debunking diet culture, emotional and mindful eating, learning the basics of nutrition, label reading, building balanced meals, and meal planning. Celebration of Nations returns to St. Catharines’ FirstOntario Performing Arts Centre from Fri 9 Sept to Sun 11 Sept with extensive in-person and virtual programming that showcases the incredible talents and proud achievements of Indigenous peoples. With over 40 in-person events, many with virtual broadcasts, and a combination of ticketed, pay-what-you-can and free admission options, this three-day Indigenous Arts Gathering offers something for everyone.
This year’s lineup includes performances by Buffy Sainte-Marie, Shawnee Kish (10 Sept), as well as a special First Ladies of Jazz concert presented in partnership with the TD Niagara Jazz Festival (9 Sept).
Engaging options for cultural discovery include daily sunrise, storytelling and sacred fire ceremonies with Indigenous Elders, an interactive Indigenous Discovery Zone and hands-on workshops that allow participants to try crafting traditional Indigenous items, including pottery, drums, moccasins, and jewellery.
24 hour hillclimb challenge to walk 250 individual dogs up the hill. Each dog will do a 2 1/2 minute revolution up and down the hill. Event begins at 8am 10 September at Malden Park. With French Squeeze adding vocals and original accordion accompaniment to hits by Édith Piaf, Charles Trenet, Jacques Brel, Alys Robi, and La Bolduc, LA VIE EN ROSE ends Cantabile's concert season on a whimsical, rose-coloured note.
