2022 Axes Up for the Fonthill Legion: Fundraising Axe Throwing Style
The time has come to throw some axes once again for a great cause! Join us on July 16th, 2022, at the Fonthill Legion for the Axes Up Fundraising Tournament.
Year three of doing some good in the world with axes! Over the last two years, our axe community and the community of Pelham have raised twenty thousand dollars for the Fonthill Legion and their meals on wheels program! We helped get the kitchen back up and running, we helped more meals leave that kitchen and get to people that needed them.
The Fonthill legion is not only the best place to play shuffleboard and has an icy cold OV. The Legion is a place that provides for the community in more ways than we can count.
Just a sampling of the programs of support from this legion are:
Last year they even won a Niagara Region Impact Award for the extensive community impact of preparing and delivering meals, free of charge, to individuals who were housebound due to the ongoing pandemic.
Our published event from last year if you want to look up all the fun that was had!
It’s time for the Niagara Community to step up to the axe throwing target and show the Fonthill Legion that we appreciate and support the work they have done for us.
Here are the details:
When: July 16th Open throw and coaching opens at 9:30. The tournament starts at noon.
There will be 2 Tournaments again this year, one for experienced throwers, and one for those new to the sport. They are both set as Double Elimination – so you have to lose twice.
This tournament will run currently established rules. Bull = 5 points, the next ring is 3 points, and the furthest ring is 1 point. The green dots are open on the 5th axe and are worth 7 points. If still tied we go to Grimaces (smaller dots spread about the board for accuracy. Matches will be best 2 out of 3 till the finals which will be best 5 out of 7. Board changes will be at the discretion of tourney marshals. Devices will be used by a marshal if there is a question on points. Finally, the marshals have the final say on any disagreement on points.
Every player is guaranteed warm-up time and 2 games with entrance. There will be prizes for 1st, 2nd, and 3rdplacings. Everyone else gets the warm and fuzzy feeling of doing some good in the world.
Cost: $70 this includes the throwing and lunch. All proceeds go directly to the Legion. Lunch is a burger (Beef or vegetarian) and fries, or chicken fingers and fries. (If there are any allergies, please let us know so we can try and make your food too) The cost for an extra plate if you bring someone with you or you are just extra hungry is $10.
