Join local author Ken Cuthbertson, author of the new book Blood on the Coal, for a free illustrated talk on the great Springhill mine disaster of 1958, one of the worst workplace accidents in Canadian history -- and a cautionary tale about the dangers of our blind reliance on fossil fuels. Watch and listen as this story unfolds right in front of you. Your ticket will include refreshments which will be available before and after the performance. Wine will also be available for purchase.

Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church Annual Christmas Bazaar, 4401 Mount Royal Drive, will be held on Saturday, December 2, 9am to 2pm. We will have delicious food available at our Corner Cafe, homemade baked goods and pies, handmade quilts, handmade knitted, crocheted and sewn items, Christmas items, books, puzzles and household items. The Sarnia Shoebox Project is in its 6th year collecting items to fill shoexboxes for women in local shelters for Christmas. NEW items like scarves, gloves, candy, chocolate, make up, lotion can be dropped off at Sarnia Golf and Curling Club, MPP Bailey's office, Fuzion Hair Concepts, Norton Hairstyling and the Sarnia Shoebox.
