For the first time in three years, we are very excited to announce that HIEC will be hosting an in-person Women As Career Coaches event that will bring together our community of young people and adult mentors for an impactful, inspiring and uplifting evening.
Women as Career Coaches is an evening event that brings together young women from the community with adult mentors from all pathways. Over dinner, youth and mentors have the opportunity to engage in informal mentorship conversations, listen to a line-up of inspiring spotlight speakers, and participate in a panel discussion on career pathways.

Join Nipissing University alongside Canadore College on Thursday, January 26 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Nipissing Theatre (F213) for An Evening with Kendra Fisher, past member of Team Canada’s hockey program and CEO of Mentally Fit, as she shares her personal journey and struggles with mental health.
Get out your skates and join us at Memorial Gardens on Sunday, January 29 from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. for the Lakers Community Skate for Nipissing First Nation hosted by Enji giigdoyang, Office of Indigenous Initiatives and the Lakers Men’s and Women’s hockey teams!
On February 4, NUBASE and Lakers Basketball are hosting their 2nd Annual With1VoiceNight: Shoot for Change Game. Powered by ACA & the Harris Brand Foundation, the game will take place at the R.J. Surtees Student Centre against “705” rivals, the Laurentian Voyageurs. Created by NUBASE Co-Founder and President, Taijon Eccleston-Graham, this event will raise funds for Warren Lindsay Bursary for BIPOC students at Nipissing University.
We will be hosting a public townhall to discuss the issues we face in our healthcare system. We want to hear from the residents of Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, and Niagara-on-the-Lake directly!
The townhall will be hosted on Thursday, February 9th from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m at the Gale Centre (5152 Thorold Stone Road, Niagara Falls, L2E 0A2) in the Memorial Room. We will be featuring a panel of health care experts & front-line workers to discuss the crisis, our concerns with the continued growth of privatization, and listening directly to the concerns and stories of residents.
