Join us on Sunday, December 5th, 2021 from 12pm-4pm as we bring together the COOK-UP Entrepreneurs and local handmade vendors for our first Street Fête! Doubling as COOK-UP’s first fundraiser, this event will take place outdoors, in Downtown Windsor at 801 Ouellette Avenue, with several local vendors, music, and of course food!
Funds raised through COOK-UP’s holiday photo booth and Silver Spoon Events’ hot chocolate bar will be used towards our mission of supporting entrepreneurs, particularly from marginalized communities, to access the resources they need to start, launch, and grow an impactful food business in our community. Admission is free, but we will be accepting non-perishable food donations in support of The Downtown Mission. We look forward to seeing you and your loved ones while you get your local holiday shop on!
*We are currently accepting craft vendor applications for this event, please click this link to fill one out!*

Celebrating the coming of the Light into the world, St. John's Thorold invites you to Christmas Eve and Christmas Day services. Something for everyone, the three Christmas Eve services are offered both in person and on line. At 4PM the Children's Christmas Service offers simple language, a story, carols, and a Eucharist. Everyone, adults and children alike is welcome to wear their jammies! For the 7PM service, you're are encouraged to bring you singing voice, to join together to sing Christmas carols, celebrate the Eucharist, and welcome Christ into the world. At 10PM, there is a candlelight service also offering carols and the celebration of the Eucharist. The Christmas Day Service is at 10AM, check the website or Facebook page for more details.
Particularly this year, we need to pause the excitement and joy of Christmas to remember that this is not always an easy time for people. Held Wednesday, December 15th, both in person at 7pm and online, the “Blue Christmas” worship service creates a sacred space for those who are feeling blue at Christmas. We think of loved ones who have died, family who are no longer part of our life, tenuous or stressful job situations, uncertainties in our future or health concerns that weigh us down. Canon Katherine Morgan creates comforting space for reflection on loss, accepting where we really are and a time to be with the quiet.
St. John’s Anglican Church, Thorold prepares for the coming of the Light with several activities.
People are encouraged to gather, out front of the church, around the Christmas tree on Sunday Dec. 5, 2021, at 4pm for the “Let it Shine” event. This has been a difficult couple of years, and many are looking for places of light in the darkness. You are invited to add an ornament of light and love to the tree. Write on it the name of a loved one you hold dear, someone you have lost, or a prayer you hold in your heart. Everyone in the community is welcome. The event will include a Christmas carol sing, comforting hot chocolate or coffee and enjoying time spent together. By bringing light to our darkness, we also honour light in our lives.
