The Belleville Public Library will offer the BPL Writers’ Collective through Zoom while we are in social distancing. This virtual writers’ group gives the opportunity to chat about your work, get ideas, and gain insight on how to improve your writing. Writers’ groups are a great place to encourage yourself and others to meet your writing goals, whether you’re writing fiction or nonfiction.

In celebration of National Indigenous Peoples Day the Belleville Public Library is honoured to partner with FNTI and welcome artist, researcher and educator Simon Brascoupé, Kitigan Zibi Anishinabeg. Simon will discuss the teachings of three books: Giving Thanks by Chief Jake Swamp, All Our Relations by Tanya Talaga, and Noopiming: The Cure for White Ladies by Leanne Betasamosake Simpson. We hope that you will join us in listening to Simon, to not only celebrate and appreciate Indigenous literature, but to gain an understanding of the diverse Indigenous experiences and cultures in Canada.

We strive to make a difference in the lives of abandoned, lost/found and stray animals in the City of Kawartha Lakes and beyond. We are now collecting wine, liquor, beer bottles/cans, wine bladders year round - anything that is returnable to the beer store! As with all our fundraisers, 100% of the funds goes directly towards the care of the animals we assist.
