Hope Forman, performer, choreographer, music theatre instructor, is creating a free children’s virtual holiday concert in the hopes of spreading cheer to seniors and to the greater Windsor Essex community this holiday season!

Hope, who is a University of Windsor Bachelor of Arts (Music) grad, now completing her final year at the faculty of Education, has found a way for young artists to be able to connect with the community even during these most challenging times. Since children cannot perform in person at retirement and long term care homes this year, she is editing and producing a virtual performance which will provide them with a wonderful way to reach out and share their inner sparkle with everyone in the community.

This virtual concert will feature beloved holiday classics performed by over twenty talented children ranging in ages from 8-16, from Leamington, Kingsville, Windsor and even one all the way from Alberta. This magical creation is  intended to be a fun sing-a-long which will have everyone bursting out spontaneously in song. Hope has been putting together virtual performances since the onset of the pandemic utilizing the talents of children she’s encountered as an instructor. These fabulous creative musical theatre loving children have once again managed to exceed all expectations when approached to perform. The children were super excited right from the start, finding their holiday spirit in late October when they began recording their performances from the safety of their homes. These extraordinary children have gone all out, some decked in costumes and using props they have created all on their own. This concert will definitely be a treat sweeter than any candy cane ever tasted!

This fun virtual holiday concert is free and open for all to enjoy!  It will be available on YouTube beginning on December 4th. A link will be posted on the Face Book event: Jingle All the Way (A Virtual Holiday Concert) https://www.facebook.com/events/923923698378097/

During these most challenging and potentially very lonely times, the arts prove to be more essential than ever. The children’s inner sparkle and holiday spirit will prove to be contagious, showing us all that we can shine through whatever challenges may lie ahead for us this holiday season, and always.

For more information please contact Hope at hopeforman2012@gmail.com. Also, for any seniors’ homes who require a dvd copy of the performance to show residents please contact Hope by email.

Event is virtual. A YouTube link will be posted in the Facebook event.

Partnering with the Downtown Central Library, Carousel Players will transform the library atrium into Winter World, an immersive environment with specially-created set pieces. At the centre of Winter World, families can meet the Snow Queen in her Palace. Children are encouraged to come dressed as their favourite Frozen or other winter-themed character. Photos will be encouraged throughout, and families can pose within the special settings. There will be a specific flow of traffic established so that participants can only go in one direction through the environment, and the number of participants going through will be limited. Children who attend on December 12 and 19 will receive a winter-themed take-home craft activity.

*Though this walk-through event is open for viewing from December 12 - January 4, take home crafts will be available for families on December 12 and 19 only.*
