COLLECTING BURLINGTON'S STORIES
Our community and coping with Covid-19

The Museums of Burlington is inviting our local community to send digital files of photographs, drawings, documents and/or videos reflecting how COVID-19 is impacting you and your families.

We are living through a historical event that will impact us and future generations, perhaps in ways we don’t even understand yet. We are collecting stories about how our community is looking out for one another, coping and pulling together.

Please email your contributions to museuminfo@burlington.ca. Please note, submissions may be shared via social media, our website, and/or future exhibitions for the purpose of sparking conversation and learning.

Public Notices/Announcements - Brockville/Prescott - Important Notice: What NOT to flush

With all of the talk about toilet paper shortages, it is important to remember that it you turn to alternatives they should not be flushed.

Please DO NOT flush anything but the 3P's - pee, poo, and paper (toilet paper only).

There is never a good time for a toilet to back-up in your home, or the sewer line for your apartment building, or your whole street. “But now, at a time when we are being quarantined or self-isolated at home due to COVID-19, nobody wants a situation that would force you out of your home where you are safest”, observed Robert Haller, Executive Director of the Canadian Water and Wastewater Association (CWWA).

The CWWA knows there has been a rush on toilet paper and that some people may need to consider alternative products. Yes, there are many alternatives, but they CANNOT BE FLUSHED. Our municipal sewer systems are built to handle human waste and toilet paper that is specifically designed to deteriorate quickly. Anything else put down your toilet or sink causes problems that lead to clogs, blockages and wastewater equipment damage. Any of these situations can shut down sewer systems.
