Legal Assistance of Windsor will be holding their Annual General Meeting on Thursday, January 31 at 5:30pm at Canterbury College. The meeting will feature a screening of the I Decide Project “Know Your Rights” documentary video and a panel discussion following the video, featuring Larry Collard, Chris Rabideau and Christie Nelson.
This 30-minute documentary video highlights the journey of Larry Collard, a local resident labelled with an intellectual disability, who has succeeded in putting himself at the centre of his own decision-making. The video, directed by Chris Rabideau and Christie Nelson, also sheds light on Ontario’s long history of institutionalization and segregation.
“Legal Assistance of Windsor continues to represent and advocate on behalf of low income individuals in Windsor and Essex County and we are grateful for this funding that allows us to provide education and services to individuals in our community with intellectual disabilities, in order to promote self-directed decisions and planning.” says Marion Overholt, Executive Director of LAW.
The community is invited to attend the event on January 31, 2019 at Canterbury College, 2500 University Avenue West.
