Do you like to care for others? Do you have an interest in working in the health care field?

Tri-County Literacy Council, 101 2nd Street West, Cornwall, ON is pleased to offer a free 5-week program called "Health Care Support Worker". In Canada, the population is aging and the need for more support for ailing and disabled individuals is increasing. The Health Care Support Worker profession is an emerging field of employment. Assisting with bedside and personal care, planning and preparing meals, performing light housework duties, and spending time talking to clients are typical duties of a Health Care Support Worker.

This career exploration program is suitable for a variety of learners including those planning to enter the school environment after a prolonged absence and people changing careers. Course topics include:

• Duties of a Health Care Support Worker • Diseases and Conditions • The Human Body • Health and Safety Basics

In this program, learners also benefit from meeting industry guest speakers and visiting a continuing care facility.

Class runs Monday to Thursday 9 am to 12 pm, starting April 23, 2018. For more information or to register, call Tri-County Literacy Council at 613-932-7161.
