Community Event - North Bay - Film Screening: 'Canada's Dark Secret' Feb 9th
"Canada's Dark Secret," a 1 hr film made by Aljazeera, partly shot in Chisholm & Powassan, tells the story of 3 Indian Residential School (IRS) survivors from Six Nations, and the story of former Powassan resident Ron Shortt, an ex-RCMP officer who removed children from their home to attend an IRS in what was then known as the NWT.
Ron Shortt & Karen Labrecque, a second generation IRS survivor will speak briefly after the film & answer questions. All welcome! No admission charge; refreshments by donation. Bring a comfy chair if you wish. Sponsored by Chisholm United Church.

Pour les parents et amis qui prennent soin d’un proche atteint de la maladie d’Alzheimer. C’est une bonne occasion pour s’informer à propos de la maladie et échanger avec d’autres proches aidants et la Société Alzheimer des Laurentides.
La rencontre, animée par Madame Sophie Bélanger, se tiendra le 21 mars 2018 de 18h30 à 20h30, avec la présence de Me Émilie Dazé, notaire, au CSSS des Pays-d'en-Haut, local B-108, au 707 boul. de Ste-Adèle à Ste-Adèle.

Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Hutchison House March Break Fairies + Wodland Elf
Victorian era saw an increase in the interest in fairies and elves as settlers looked back to the folk tales of their ancestors. Fairies and elves were both good and bad, pranksters and helpful. They were the guardians of nature, woodland animals and gardens. They were helpful if you respected them, but caused problems when you didn't. In this workshop children will create their own fairy or woodland elf out of a variety of materials.
Programs run from 9:30am - 12pm or 1-3:30pm and are suitable for children ages 6-12. The cost is $15 per attendant and pre-registration is required. Children are encouraged to bring their own peanut free snacks.

Stretch your imagination and create your own 3D landscape using crayola model magic and a variety of materials.
Programs run from 9:30am - 12pm or 1-3:30pm and are suitable for children ages 6-12. The cost is $15 per attendant and pre-registration is required. Children are encouraged to bring their own peanut free snacks.

Community Event - Peterborough/Lindsay - Hutchison House March Break Mobiles
Mobiles got their start in the 1930s by American Artist Alexander Calder. Calder used moving parts and wires to create motion with his sculptures. In this workshop children will create five small sculptures out of Crayola model magic to create a mobile to hang in their rooms.
