The Volunteers of Hutchison House Museum are hosting an elegant Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on Sunday May 11th, starting at 2:00pm to celebrate this special occasion. A light lunch of delicious savories, sweets and tea will be served in the historic Keeping Room by firelight. Tickets for the event are $30 each and pre-registration is required as seating is limited.  Please register by May 9th at 5pm. There is free parking, barrier free access and a snack bar.There will be 11 dealers from around Ontario and Quebec to satisfy your collecting needs. If you are interested in or currently collecting coins, medallions, bills, notes or tokens, there will be something here for you. An opportunity like this is usually only available locally but once a year, so don’t miss out.

All Saints’ Peterborough is pleased to announce anoint concert in the series Music in the Hall.  As part of their 150th Anniversary Celebration, in partnership with Maars Music, they will host a night of community and music featuring performances by both Kate Suhr and Melissa Payne.  

This evening promises to be an amazing blend of beautiful music and family-friendly fun starring two extremely talented local singer-songwriters. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m., and tickets are $25, with all proceeds supporting our ambitious anniversary goal of raising $150,000 to mark 150 years of All Saints’ ministry and presence in the community.

In the era before the GPS, the lighthouses scattered along the shores of the Great Lakes were the one reliable way of determining where a ship was at night.  While the American lights were built and managed by the federal government, on the Canadian side these were the responsibility of the government of Upper Canada and later the Bureau of Public Works of the united Province of Canada. In an era dominated by massive government spending on canals, the lighthouses are often overlooked as a critical part of the safe transport of local products to distant markets.  A remarkable number of these pre-Confederation structures still survive.

Walter Lewis is an award-winning maritime historian and frequent speaker, specializing in the history of Great Lakes region.  A graduate of Queen's University and the University of Toronto, he has served on the editorial boards of both Fresh Water and is the executive editor of   The Northern Mariner. In 1990 he took up scuba diving as part of the research for The River Palace, co-authored with Rick Neilson of Kingston.  His website, MaritimeHistoryOfTheGreatLakes.ca is recognized as one of the richest resources for those doing research in the history of the Lakes. He has presented to a wide range of audiences, including the Peterborough Historical Society back in 2015.

PHS Speaker Series to be held Tuesday May 20, 7:30 p.m. at the Peterborough Lions’ Centre on Burnham Street. Admission is free and so are the light refreshments.

Step into the Light on May 24th when the Peterborough Symphony Orchestra performs its final concert of the season.

The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Emmanuel United Church. Arrive at 6:45 p.m. to hear Maestro Newnham give his pre-concert talk.

Two guest artists playing the harp and cello will join the orchestra to showcase a piece by Canadian composer Kelly-Marie Murphy and a soprano will accompany the orchestra in performing Mahler’s Fourth Symphony.

Telecare Peterborough Spring 2025 50-hour training for New Telephone volunteers will begins Thursday April 24th from 7pm to 9pm. The training consists of 50 hours and is done independently and online. Sessions continue Monday and Thursday evenings from until Thursday Thurs June Trainees are expected to participate in all sessions.

Cephas Christian Reformed Church is proud to present a free benefit concert for LifeWater Canada. Come out for an evening of lively musical entertainment and enjoy 4-part harmony Gospel songs, R & B and Soul tributes provided by Bridget Foley and the Gospel Girls. A free will offering will be taken to support clean water projects throughout Haiti, Nigeria, Liberia and Kenya. Receipts will be given for donations of $20 or more.
