Jason Agnew's Interview With Skils Ontario CEO
Ontario boasts a wide array of career opportunities in the skilled trades and technologies. Within this diverse landscape, the government has officially designated 144 occupations as skilled trades, covering industries such as mechanical, electrical, automotive and manufacturing, among others. Skills Ontario is a government funded organization dedicated to promoting skilled trades and technologies in Ontario. Jason Agnew spoke with CEO Ian Howcroft and asked if advancements in technology has allowed the government to broaden the definition of what is designated as a skilled trade.

Innovation Factory CEO David Carter on the New Concept Catalyst Program
In today's climate of economic uncertainty and rapid technological change, fostering homegrown innovation is more important than ever. Innovation Factory is a Halton & Hamilton business accelerator organization that assists tech start ups to advance their businesses. The organization has launched Concept Catalyst, a program designed specifically to support early-stage tech start-ups and drive Ontario's economic growth. Jason Agnew chatted with Innovation Factory CEO, David Carter to learn more about the Concept Catalyst program.
Carfax Canada's New Vin Fraud Check
Carfax Canada has launched vin fraud check, a new, free tool for car dealers that flags potentially cloned or stolen vehicle identification numbers. Jessica Kaitting attended Halton police headquarters earlier today for the official announcement.
Tim Crowder
Together with his wife Zora, Tim raised his family in Glen Abbey. A community-builder, he has coached minor sports, led the parent association at his son’s schools, and supported the Oakville Hospital Foundation. Tim and his family hosted families displaced by the war in Ukraine and seeking refuge in Canada, helping them to establish new lives in their new home. He had a long banking career in executive roles with TD and HSBC, and working to represent Oakville West is now his full-time job.
Sima Acan
Sima Acan is a proud and longtime member of the Oakville community. She is a businesswoman and community advocate; Sima is a partner in a local automation and robotics company and uses her engineering experience to drive innovation and productivity across diverse industries. She has served as President of the Oakville Lions Club and volunteered with the Royal Canadian Air Cadets and local school councils—gaining deep insight into the needs and aspirations of our community.
Kyle Hutton
A Burlington resident since 2002, Kyle is a dedicated environmental and local democracy advocate. He is passionate about being involved, having protested for climate justice, LGBTQ+ rights, and against government overreach. He currently serves on the Green Party of Ontario’s Provincial Executive, and has been advancing policies on nuclear energy, trans rights, and support for Ukraine. Kyle works for a non-profit supporting progressive campaigns and has run provincially three times, always driven by a belief in bold, positive change.
Karina Gould
As the youngest female cabinet minister in Canadian history, Karina Gould has been a fierce advocate for the people of Burlington since she was elected in 2015. You can count on Karina to stand up for you, every time. It’s why she ran for office in the first place: to make this community and this country a fairer, more equal, more welcoming place for all Canadians. As a Member of Parliament and Cabinet Minister, she has made elections fairer, led Canada’s international development efforts, and helped deliver $10-a-day childcare. A lifelong resident of Burlington, Karina is proud to raise her family here and call it home. Before entering politics, she worked in international trade and holds degrees from McGill University and the University of Oxford.
Hailey Ford
Hailey Ford has lived in Oakville since birth. As long as she can remember, she’s been driven by a desire to do good in her community and country. She attended Post's Corners Public School and White Oaks Secondary School. She is currently completing her third-year of journalism at Toronto Metropolitan University, where she is president of the Journalism Course Union. As a volunteer, she’s worked heavily with United Way and the Ontario Health Coalition.
