Halton women's place is Halton's only women's shelter, providing a safe haven and a home away from home for women and their children who are facing dangerous and abusive domestic situations. In order to keep their doors open they need to fundraise for community support, and one of their biggest fundraisers of the year is coming up next month.

Halton has long been known as one of Canada's safest regions. But a spike in crime has residents worried the brand is tarnished. The blame is being aimed at 'catch and release' justice--where criminals are back on the streets shortly after an arrest. Last night, Milton residents packed a town hall to hear how a new federal bill aims to keep those offenders behind bars. Reporter D Glazebrook was there.
