We are calling on everyone to come together once again to hit our 200 fully stocked backpack goal, to ensure these children have the tools they need to succeed. This year, the donations will benefit both Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Kawartha Haliburton Children's Foundation.

A hilarious night of songs, satire, and personal stories.

Izad Etemadi has spent most of his life explaining himself to others: his ethnicity, his sexuality, the pronunciation of his name. But as an elder-millennial dealing with back pain and digestive issues, he doesn’t have the time or energy to keep explaining things. This queer Iranian-Canadian immigrant born in Germany is going to attempt to explain his entire existence in 60-ish minutes, so he never has to do it again.

Come join the Peterborough Astronomical Association (PAA) on Tuesday, August 12th to view the annual Perseid Meteor Shower Event, at Harold Town Conservation Area (located 3.5 km east of Television Road on the Old Norwood Road, on the south side just before the Drummond Line), starting at 9:00 p.m. until possibly the wee hours of the 13th.  As always, this event is free and open to the public and fun for all ages.  One night of the year worth staying up for…what better way to spend a Tuesday night in the summer!

Although optical aids are not needed for the meteor shower, members of the PAA will have telescopes and binoculars set up to view other wonders of the night sky. Bring your own binoculars and there will guided tours of constellations and night sky gems! Catch a glimpse of many star clusters and galaxies which will be visible as the evening progresses. There will also be a chance to see Mars, Saturn and its thin “rings”! The Moon will fortunately not be full, but will also be a great target to view later in the evening.

The PAA will use the area adjacent to the parking lot at Harold Town C.A.. Come dressed and prepared to spend time outside. See you there and keep looking up!

This is a weather dependent event. If the skies are cloudy & precipitating, the event will be canceled that evening. Please check the PAA website and Facebook page for status updates, the day of this event.

Scottish Tea Season has arrived!

Celebrate the summer season with the start of our Scottish Tea Season on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025. Scottish Teas will continue every Tuesday- Sunday until August 31, 2025 from 1-4 pm.

Scottish Tea, served on the terrace in the period garden, includes fresh baked scones, preserves, whipped cream, oatcakes, and tea, lemonade, or ice tea. Complimentary tours of the 1840s restored stone house are included with the teas. The cost for tea is $12.00 for adults and youth, $8.00 for children under 10 years of age, children under 5 are free. Registration is required if you are a group of more than four. This year Hutchison House Museum would like to give a big Thank You to LLF Lawyers for sponsoring our Scottish Tea program. Hutchison House will host the 33rd  annual Peach Tea on Thursday, August 14th   from noon to 4pm.  Enjoy the feeling of an old time summer social, as you indulge in an afternoon of home-baked scones served with fresh peaches and whipped cream or ice cream, topped with blueberries.  Tea, iced tea, or lemonade will add a refreshing compliment to this delightful summer repast.

Tickets for the Peach Tea must be booked in advance at a cost of $15.00 for adults/ $10.00 for children. Reservations are required. Sittings are 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm. Space is limited. Celebrate the summer season with the start of our Scottish Tea Season on Wednesday, July 2nd 2025. Scottish Teas will continue every Tuesday- Sunday until August 31, 2025 from 1-4 pm.

Scottish Tea, served on the terrace in the period garden, includes fresh baked scones, preserves, whipped cream, oatcakes, and tea, lemonade, or ice tea. Complimentary tours of the 1840s restored stone house are included with the teas. The cost for tea is $12.00 for adults and youth, $8.00 for children under 10 years of age, children under 5 are free. Registration is required if you are a group of more than four. This year Hutchison House Museum would like to give a big Thank You to LLF Lawyers for sponsoring our Scottish Tea program. On Saturday August 23rd Peterborough Area Kids will be setting up Lemonade Stands everywhere. Lemonaders will be providedwith lemonade ingredients, cups and signage to set up their Lemonade Stands. Inreurn Leonaders will provide the proceeds to support  Canada's only Free Accredited Zoo, with the largest children's play area in the County, their own Peterborough Riverview Park and Zoo.  As well, the Kiwanis Club of Scott's Plains, in Celebration of its Fifty (50) Years supporting programs which support idsin our community will benefit. Kids Need Kiwanis!

As we continue our efforts to move forward & better serve Peterborough & surrounding community the need to replace the aging Peterborough Lions Community Centre kitchen has become readily apparent. While we work tirelessly to continue to raise funds for many local charities, thru efforts such as "Retrunable Bottle & Aluminum Pop Can" collections, we are also in parallel working to raise funds to ensure our community centre continues to be available for our community.
