The Friends of the Peterborough Public Library will host their Spring Book Sale on Friday, April 25th and Saturday, April 26th. The Sale begins on Friday at 12:00 PM and continues until 7 PM. The hours on Saturday are 10:00 AM until 3 PM. There will be rare books dating from the early 20th century right through to current bestsellers. Many categories of fiction and non-fiction books can be found and we offer a varied selection of mysteries. Also, we have a wide array of children’s books from baby’s first book to teen fiction. Whatever category of book you're looking for, there's a good chance you'll find it at our Sale. Many books are priced at only $1.00. All proceeds from our Sales are donated to the Peterborough Public Library for special programming. We look forward to seeing you there.

Telecare Peterborough Spring 2025 50-hour training for New Telephone volunteers will begins Thursday April 24th from 7pm to 9pm. The training consists of 50 hours and is done independently and online. Sessions continue Monday and Thursday evenings from until Thursday Thurs June Trainees are expected to participate in all sessions.

The Kawartha String Orchestra (KSO) is pleased to present their annual spring concert on Sunday April 27 starting at 2pm at St. James United Church (221 Romaine Street, Peterborough, ON). 

The theme of the concert is "Stage and Symphony". Award-winning conductor and music director Tak Kwan and the KSO will play selections from Mozart, pieces from popular musicals such as Les Miserables and The Sound of Music, as well as two new compositions by local composer and KSO bassist Marcus Quin. Guest soloists include Tak Kwan (violin) and Marcus Quin (clarinet).

Admission is free; monetary donations to Upbeat! Downtown are gratefully accepted. UPBEAT! Downtown is an after school music program for children living in Peterborough who are interested in music and face barriers accessing music education.

All Saints’ Peterborough is delighted to announce Homecoming: A Tapestry of Story and Song, an upcoming performance as part of our 150th Anniversary Celebration. This special evening will feature the All Saints’ Choir alongside returning ‘Choral Scholars’ and former choir members, in a night of music and community connection. We are thrilled to welcome local storyteller and beloved performer Megan Murphy, who will weave together heartfelt tales and entertaining anecdotes throughout the night.

The concert will showcase solo performances by Melody Thomas, Ryan Hofman, Emma Mansell, Julia Johnston, and Will Lamond, accompanied by pianist Kelsey Van Blarcom. These talented vocalists, who once sang with the All Saints’ Choir as high school students, gained valuable experience and musical growth during their time with us. Now, they return to share their gifts once more with the community that helped shape their musical journeys.

This evening promises to be an unforgettable blend of beautiful music, meaningful stories, and the warmth of reunion. The concert begins at 7:00 p.m, on Saturday, May 3rd, and tickets are $40, with all proceeds supporting our ambitious anniversary goal of raising $150,000 to mark 150 years of All Saints’ ministry and presence in the community.

The Volunteers of Hutchison House Museum are hosting an elegant Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea on Sunday May 11th, starting at 2:00pm to celebrate this special occasion. A light lunch of delicious savories, sweets and tea will be served in the historic Keeping Room by firelight. Hosted by the Peterborough Numismatic Society:Everyone welcome, one day only, Saturday, May 17th, 2025 at Westdale United Church, 1509 Sherbrooke St. W., Peterborough, ON, K9K 0E6, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.There is an entry fee of only $2.00 and children under 12 free. There is free parking, barrier free access and a snack bar.There will be 11 dealers from around Ontario and Quebec to satisfy your collecting needs. If you are interested in or currently collecting coins, medallions, bills, notes or tokens, there will be something here for you. An opportunity like this is usually only available locally but once a year, so don’t miss out.

There will be displays and exhibits of numismatic material from around the world. Come out and enjoy yourself and bring the whole family. This is something of interest for all ages. You don’t need to be a collector to enjoy yourself.
