Forest Therapy will be led by Morgan Casement on Wednesday, September 18 at Vanderwater Conservation area and Wednesday, October 23 at Sidney Conservation area, both from 1pm until 4pm, starting in the parking lot. Please arrive ready to participate and bring everything you will need for the session, including water, sunscreen, bug spray, etc. Washrooms are adjacent to the parking lot only.

Feel free to bring a journal, blanket, or other items to enhance your comfort. You may also bring snacks if you need to eat within a three-hour period. Be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.  Morgan will guide you through a conscious and contemplative practice where your senses are immersed in the sights, sounds, and smells of the forest.

Important: While every effort is made to ensure a safe environment, please be aware of the inherent risks, including contact with plants, insects, uneven ground, and changing weather conditions. If you have any major food allergies or other concerns, please inform us in advance.

We ask that you take nothing but pictures and leave nothing but footprints.

This event is free and includes parking. Donations are kindly accepted and will be reinvested in stewardship, education and outreach.

REBORN: Songs of War & Peace

07:30 PM — 09:10 PM

Reborn: Songs of War & Peace delves into the intersection between music and the human experience during times of conflict and remembrance.

Through a myriad of musical styles, the concert illustrates how music has been a source of solace, a means of processing grief, and a beacon of hope that spans history and culture. The concert will feature a diverse selection of pieces that highlight the dual themes of war and peace, juxtaposing the stark realities of conflict with the enduring human spirit and capacity for hope. Musical highlights include excerpts from “Seven Last Words of Unarmed” by Joel Thompson; a powerful piece that memorializes the final words of unarmed black men killed by police.

The concert will showcase a world premiere by Aaron Manswell, the winner of Cantabile's 2024 BIPOC Song Competition. The concert will also feature pieces by renowned Canadian composers Eleanor Daley, Mark Sirett, Hussein Janmohamed, and Cree-Dene composer Sherryl Sewepegaham, offering a rich tapestry of sounds and stories that reflect our diverse cultural heritage.
