Pride Event & CHET Showcase

11:00 AM — 01:00 PM

Musket Transport and its affiliated training school, Commercial Heavy Equipment Training Ltd. (CHET), are marking Pride Month with a special event that puts equity and inclusion in the driver’s seat.

On Wednesday, June 25, CHET’s Burlington campus will host the Pride Event & CHET Showcase, bringing together community partners, career seekers, and allies from across Halton and Hamilton. The event, running from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, aims to break stereotypes about the trucking industry and introduce attendees to opportunities in transportation and logistics.

The trucking industry has long been perceived as male-dominated, but there is no place for toxic masculinity or exclusion in today’s workforce,” said Sophia Sniegowski Begidzhanov, Corporate Communications Officer for Musket Transport. “At Musket and CHET, we are committed to fostering an inclusive and equitable environment that welcomes individuals of all gender identities, sexual orientations, ethnicities, and backgrounds.

Guests will get a hands-on look at CHET’s AZ and DZ training vehicles, while licensed drivers will have a chance to meet Musket’s recruitment and driver management teams about job opportunities in the region.

Here's what to expect:

  • Hands-on equipment showcase – featuring our AZ and DZ training programs
  • Ice cream truck treats and hot dogs on us!
  • A welcoming space to build relationships and explore collaboration

Founded in 1997, CHET is a registered Career College that offers Class A and Class D commercial training, designed for students from all backgrounds and skill levels. The Burlington showcase is the latest initiative in a broader effort by CHET and Musket to create space for underrepresented groups in an industry historically lacking diversity.

We believe that driving is not just a profession, but a lifestyle choice, and no personal identity should ever determine your success or earning potential in this industry,” said Sniegowski Begidzhanov. “Together, we can build a future for trucking that’s inclusive, proud, and empowering for all.

The free event is open to 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, community organizations, and supporters, and will also feature networking opportunities and interactive equipment demos. Those interested in attending can register through Eventbrite.

Sunset Kino at Oakville Galleries: Canada's Only Outdoor Film Festival

08:30 PM — 10:00 PM

Oakville Galleries is thrilled to present the return of Sunset Kino, Canada’s only outdoor avant-garde film festival, set against the stunning backdrop of Gairloch Gardens every Thursday from June 26 to July 17. Each screening begins at sunset and is introduced by the program’s curators, offering audiences a thoughtfully curated selection of films and videos by both Canadian and international artists.

Each year, the program is shaped by an overarching theme and thoughtfully aligned with our summer exhibition. This year’s theme, “What was that,” responds to ongoing geopolitical shifts and the narratives they produce, whether unfolding across borders or within our local contexts. It invites us to reflect on the constant need to recalibrate our understanding of the world, and to reconsider our roles both as individuals and as a collective—as a new global order begins to take form.
