Food Security in Muskoka
In the Dec. 3, 2018 episode of Muskoka Matters, Kelli Ebbs and Keri-Lyn Freebird, from the Muskoka North Good Food Co-op, joins Anthony Asturi to discuss access to local, sustainable and healthy food in Muskoka. They also discussed food insecurity and waste in society and what we need to do to change that.
Muskoka North Good Food Co-op gets thousands from the province
Muskoka Parry Sound MPP Norm Miller announced on Nov. 30 that Muskoka North Good Food Co-op was getting up to $100,000 funding, through the Rural Economic Development program, to develop a multi-use commercial kitchen to serve as commercial space for value-add producers and also to serve as a community space used for teaching.
Miller also announced the Township of Lake of Bays is receiving up to $72,490 for an economic development project and Magnetawan First Nation is receiving up to $10,000 for a tourism development study.

Selling cannabis in Parry Sound
The Town of Parry Sound is looking for public input on whether council should vote in favour of having a retail market for marijuana. The deadline to submit input is on Dec. 7. More information is available on the town's website. There will also be a public meeting to hear opinions on whether to permit or deny retail cannabis stores. The public is invited to come speak to the issue on Dec. 18 at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers.
Festive RIDE kicks off in Parry Sound-Muskoka
The OPP officially kicked off Festive RIDE on Nov. 23 in the hopes to decrease the number of impaired drivers over the holiday season. Not only will officers be looking for drivers impaired by alcohol, but also those impaired by drugs. Festive RIDE runs until Jan. 2, 2019.
