Remembering Tyler Crooks
Corporal Tyler Crooks died in a bomb attack in Afghanistan during what was known as Operation Jaley. The date was March 20, 2009, Tyler's 24th birthday. Jennifer Wittig visited recently with the Port Colborne native's father Alfie and younger brother Tage.
Remembering Albert Storm
Niagara's first casualty in Afghanistan occurred in November of 2006 when Corporal Albert Storm of Fort Erie lost his life when the armoured car he was in was attacked by a suicide bomber. The Source spoke with his older brother George who shared his thoughts on his brother's life and the aftermath of his tragic death.
Dr. Andrew Burtch - Canadian War Museum
Canada entered the conflict in Afghanistan just a few short months after September 11th, 2001. By the time the last soldiers pulled out in 2014, 158 members of our Armed Forces had lost their lives. Dr. Andrew Burtch of the Canadian War Museum joins us from Ottawa for our Remembrance Day special.
Mack Brown
Warrant Officer Dennis Brown was a 38-year-old Sir Winston Churchill graduate, a Special Constable with the Niagara Regional Police Service, when a roadside bomb claimed his life outside Kandahar City, on March 3rd, 2009. His oldest son Mack was 12 years old at the time and joins Mike in studio to discuss the impact his father had on him and the Niagara community.
