Renfrew Sells Post Office
The Town of Renfrew made the decision to sell the Historic Downtown Post Office building to Rob Thompson Hotels LTD. The appraised value of the building was $635,000 dollars but it was in need of major renovations to meet provincial legislation, the price tag on the repairs was in the neighbourhood of $1.2 million dollars.
In the end the Town decided to sell the building at the cost of $100,000. The purchaser is expected to bring the building up to code and add in a new elevator lift and create a small Boutique Hotel in the Downtown.

Parking for Construction
With Downtown Construction set to begin in April, The Town of Renfrew has come to agreements with a couple of organizations to add parking during the construction period.

The Flying Bandit
THE FLYING BANDIT - The story of Gilbert Galvan, an American convict who led a double life in Pembroke in the 1980’s. Galvan would fly from Pembroke, using the regional airline, Pem-Air, to fly to Toronto where he would transfer to larger airlines and commit almost 60 bank and jewelry store robberies before being arrested by the Ontario Provincial Police at the Pembroke Airport.

The Renfrew Food Bank receives 600 plus eggs per week from Duck Farmer Matt McDougall. Oh yeah, they are all duck eggs and are just has good as chicken eggs!
