The new mayor and council of Gravenhurst were officially sworn in on Dec. 4. They were welcomed by a full house at the Gravenhurst Opera House.

Muskoka Parry Sound MPP Norm Miller announced on Nov. 30 that Muskoka North Good Food Co-op was getting up to $100,000 funding, through the Rural Economic Development program, to develop a multi-use commercial kitchen to serve as commercial space for value-add producers and also to serve as a community space used for teaching. 

Miller also announced the Township of Lake of Bays is receiving up to $72,490 for an economic development project and Magnetawan First Nation is receiving up to $10,000 for a tourism development study.

The Museum on Tower Hill in Parry Sound has launched their Christmas exhibit. For details on this exhibit and others go to the museum's website. 

The Town of Parry Sound is looking for public input on whether council should vote in favour of having a retail market for marijuana. The deadline to submit input is on Dec. 7. More information is available on the town's website. There will also be a public meeting to hear opinions on whether to permit or deny retail cannabis stores.  The public is invited to come speak to the issue on Dec. 18 at 7:00pm in the Council Chambers.
