Brackenrig Nursery in partnership with the Friends of the Muskoka Watershed and the District of Muskoka is offering an event that focused on gardening, environment and sustainability.

Flooding conditions throughout Muskoka are improving as the water moves it way out of the watershed. Our Samantha Johnson caught up with one local resident in Bracebridge who says the water is still high but is slowly receding.

The Muskoka Watershed Council has released the 2018 Muskoka Watershed Report Card. Here are the findings.

Unique in Ontario, Watershed Wonders opens in July with a dozen interactive screens that take visitors deep into the many facets of the watershed. Visitors will discover five distinct sections that together tell the tale.

1. Water Cycles shows how forests, lakes, shorelines and wetlands are the interconnected component parts of the watershed.
2. Biodiversity is featured as the centerpiece of the exhibit, focusing on nature above and below the surface of the water.
3. Nature Challenged explores the risk facing watershed species.
4. Humans! is all about us, detailing how the watershed has been the foundation of our economy for over a century and a half. Stories touch on the impact of our actions, both good and bad.
5. In Stewardship and Sustainability we learn how to be stewards and the work being done by so many to ensure the watershed’s continued good health.

Life underwater spectacularly comes alive in an interactive Virtual Aquarium showcasing what we typically can’t see under the surface.
