The Huntsville Public Library has expanded services to Port Sydney.  The goal is to offer residents, of that community, more opportunities to use library services. The pilot project kicked off on April 9, with a visit from Councillor Jason Fitzgerald.

Volunteers including MP Tony Clement, gathered at Clement's office in Huntsville on April 12 to put together care packages for Canadian soldiers based in Latvia. Residents poured in throughout the day to donate items. Sugarbush Hill Maple Farm is one of many local sugarbushes that offers the complete maple syrup experience. To round out the maple season, The Muskoka Maple Festival is happening in Huntsville on Saturday, April 21.

 People, businesses and communities in Parry Sound–Muskoka will benefit from the growth of small and medium-sized enterprises and the creation of more well-paying, middle-class jobs thanks to a strategic investment by the Government of Canada of more than $7.1 million.                                                   

The announcement was made today by the Honourable Navdeep Bains, Minister of Innovation, Science and Economic Development, and Minister responsible for FedNor. The Minister was on a two-day tour of Northern Ontario to promote the release of the federal Prosperity and Growth Strategy for Northern Ontario, an economic development plan that will help guide Government of Canada investments and services in the region.

The FedNor funding announced today will support 12 priority projects being led by local organizations including: Muskoka Futures, Lofthouse Manufacturing, Muskoka Rock Company, Crofters Food Ltd., Muskoka North Good Food Co-op, LB Huntsville Brewhouse, Parry Sound Area Community Business & Development Centre, Muskoka Steamship and Historical Society, Trestle Brewery, Regional Tourism Organization 12 Parry Sound / Muskoka, The Network Gravenhurst and the Township of Armour.

Hospice Huntsville is once again hosting their Purple Tea Party fundraiser Sat. April 7 at the Huntsville Place Mall. Funds raised goes towards their Hike for Hospice. You can also take part in the silent auction. For details go to their website.
