Nominate a deserving senior for an award
Town of Gravenhurst is looking to the community, local service and community groups for potential nominees for the Province of Ontario’s Senior of the Year Award program. Nominations must be received by the municipality by Tuesday April 10, 2018 at noon. Council will put forth their recommendation on April 17. A certificate will be provided by the Ontario Government and presented to the honourary recipient at a future event by Mayor Donaldson and Council.
OPP Gun Amnesty Initiative
The Ontario Provincial Police has launched the Gun Amnesty Initiative for the month of April. The aim is to allow residents safely dispose of unwanted, unlicensed and unregistered firearms or other weapons. The Liberal government is proposing new gun laws nationwide to cut down on the rise in gun-related violence. The OPP says this law would require gun retailers to keep gun sale and stock records for at least 20 years. The goal is to reduce the number of guns in communities and prevent weapons from being stolen.
Storm warning and freezing rain for Parry Sound-Muskoka
A winter storm warning for Parry Sound and Huntsville areas, while a freezing rain warning is in effect for South Muskoka. Environment Canada says we may even need to prepare for more storms in April.

WINTER STORM WARNING FOR APRIL 2
Environment Canada has issued a winter storm warning for Huntsville and Parry Sound area. Mother Nature is not done with winter just yet. Meantime, a Special Weather Statement is in effect for South Muskoka. Environment Canada says Freezing rain or snow possible late Tuesday into Wednesday morning. Precipitation associated with a Colorado low pressure system will spread into much of central and eastern Ontario Tuesday afternoon. The precipitation will likely start off as light rain or snow, but may transition to freezing rain Tuesday evening.
Brenda Rhodes to run as Liberal candidate in Parry Sound-Muskoka
The Parry Sound-Muskoka Provincial Liberal Association hosted a nomination meeting on Mar. 27 at Tea Beards in Gravenhurst. In that meeting the association nominated Brenda Rhodes to run in the provincial election on June 7, 2018.
Huntsville mayor wants to get rid of MAHC
Huntsville Mayor Scott Aitchison joined Mel LIVE At 5 to discuss a motion to dissolve MAHC.

Serena Whaley has her latest exhibit at the Chapel Gallery in Bracebridge. It runs until March 24. Whaley says "'Passages' explores the journey from pain to healing, that every person experiences at one point or another in their life."
