The Huntsville Festival of the Art's latest production of Oliver is still a few months away, but work on the set is underway. Being built by members of the Rotary Club of Huntsville, the director and set designer says this set certainly has a 'wow' factor.

There is no scientific evidence for why the third Monday in January is considered the the most depressing day of the year. Dubbed "Blue Monday", it has encouraged residents to talk more openly about mental health. In a move to raise more awareness about mental health to residents and students, Canadore College is offering a safeTALK program at the West Parry Sound campus. This program was funded by anonymous donors, which enables the program to be free to its participants.

The Simcoe Muskoka District Health Unit's Medical Officer of Health Dr. Charles Gardner has issued a declaration of widespread influenza activity in Simcoe Muskoka. Mayor Jamie McGarvey hosted a New Year's Levee on Jan. 7. During the event, the mayor awarded the Order of Parry Sound to Parry Sound High School teacher Rick Lund.
